Another incredibly fast paced and clever page turner。 Short snappy chapters, interesting and often flawed characters and thrill after thrill make this a book that will be read in record time。 I flew through it。 I was so keen to find out how on earth Heather could discover the secrets of a decade ago。 I loved the characters she met along the way, Jodie in particular。 She was raw and feisty and her bond with Heather really enhanced the story。 I know with absolute certainty that we’ll see The Mother on tv screens within a few years, like the rest of the author’s books。 And rightly so! 。。。more

The Mother is another great read from TM Logan。 It was fast paced and had plenty of twists that I did not see coming, especially the one at the end which hit me like a ton of bricks。 I have read all of TM Logan's books and while I would not say this was my favourite I would definitely recommend it along with all his other books as they have a distinct style to them which I absolutely love。Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for my ARC。 The Mother is another great read from TM Logan。 It was fast paced and had plenty of twists that I did not see coming, especially the one at the end which hit me like a ton of bricks。 I have read all of TM Logan's books and while I would not say this was my favourite I would definitely recommend it along with all his other books as they have a distinct style to them which I absolutely love。Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books UK for my ARC。 。。。more

This is my first book by T。M。 Logan, having wanted to read his books for a while, and I’m very pleased with my choice。 The Mother is fast-paced and gripping from the first page to the last。 The premise is intriguing: Liam, a well-loved MP is murdered in his home。 His wife, Heather, is arrested and imprisoned for his murder。 We follow her as she is released 9 years later, having served half her sentence and still maintaining her innocence。 Can she find out what really happened to clear her name a This is my first book by T。M。 Logan, having wanted to read his books for a while, and I’m very pleased with my choice。 The Mother is fast-paced and gripping from the first page to the last。 The premise is intriguing: Liam, a well-loved MP is murdered in his home。 His wife, Heather, is arrested and imprisoned for his murder。 We follow her as she is released 9 years later, having served half her sentence and still maintaining her innocence。 Can she find out what really happened to clear her name and get her children back?I raced through this book。 It starts with a real bang – that first scene sets a real tone of mystery – and the tension is always high, with plenty happening to keep your attention focused。 You’re never quite sure who you can trust, and the fact that his death might be linked to corruption higher up in the government raises the stakes further。I really liked the characters in this book and enjoyed the twists as the novel continued。 The Mother is a well-crafted domestic thriller which zips along at such a pace that it makes the story almost addictive reading – you may struggle to put this one down! I was up and down with how I felt about this book。 One minute I was loving it and wrapped up in the fast-paced drama。 Other times I felt like I was slugging my way through it to find out why Heather had been framed。 It was both slow and fast; it was both exciting and boring。 I am still determining how I feel about it overall。I think the ending made up my mind, however, as I found that to be a major disappointment。 Yes, it was a shocker when it was revealed, but that was all it was。 It didn’t mak I was up and down with how I felt about this book。 One minute I was loving it and wrapped up in the fast-paced drama。 Other times I felt like I was slugging my way through it to find out why Heather had been framed。 It was both slow and fast; it was both exciting and boring。 I am still determining how I feel about it overall。I think the ending made up my mind, however, as I found that to be a major disappointment。 Yes, it was a shocker when it was revealed, but that was all it was。 It didn’t make sense; the perpetrator behind the crime just made no sense。 I was left with a lot of questions unanswered, such as how did they know Heather went to Musgrove’s house? Yes, everyone knew when she was at Owens, but Musgrove’s was the one place no one knew that she would be there at that moment。I have read other books recently where someone has been wrongfully imprisoned and gotten out trying to prove their innocence, and they have been a much better read than this one。 I was glad that the timescale that had lapsed was only ten years, as anything longer always makes these types of stories harder to swallow。 What does wind me up about these kinds of premises, though, is why wasn’t all of this investigated by the lawyers and the accused before the trial? Surely the trial wasn’t the day after she was charged, but there was a period of time when the lawyers would gather their defence。 Why wasn’t all of this looked into, then? Even if Heather were on remand, she would have had a team of people helping her。So, yes, after writing this, I have decided that I didn’t really enjoy this。 I have read other books by this author that were far superior, so if this is the first you pick up of his, don’t let it deter you from some of his other work。 。。。more

This story starts with a funeral。That of Heather Vernon。 Widow, mother, murderer?Such an interesting way to begin a novel。 You could say genius because I was instantly hooked。 I read this book in one afternoon because I honestly couldn't put it down。Having read Logan's other books, I was fully aware of his writing style and it's still just as gripping as his debut。We are taken on a journey with Heather through past and present all with the purpose of proving her innocent of killing her husband。I This story starts with a funeral。That of Heather Vernon。 Widow, mother, murderer?Such an interesting way to begin a novel。 You could say genius because I was instantly hooked。 I read this book in one afternoon because I honestly couldn't put it down。Having read Logan's other books, I was fully aware of his writing style and it's still just as gripping as his debut。We are taken on a journey with Heather through past and present all with the purpose of proving her innocent of killing her husband。I found it intriguing that we knew from the beginning that this woman wasn't guilty of the crime she was accused of。 My detective head was put on instantly and I felt as though I was solving the crime alongside her。As certain things are uncovered and discoveries made, if anything, it all becomes less clear。The who, what and why of it all。This is a sign of a good book, keeps you reading with increased interest as the guilty parties accumulate。I loved the use of the police interviews。 Showed a different view of the case presented to us。 More details to work with。 I found myself looking back at previous conversations to see if I was missing something, a vital clue。My suspicions rose with every turn of the page。Heather's ultimate goal isn't to prove that she had nothing to do with this horrific killing, really all she wants is to be reunited with her sons and those emotions that built with every obstacle in her way were highly realistic。 I could never fully imagine how a parent would feel being put in that situation but I know how I'd react if separated from my own children。I really admired this woman's determination and strength。Adrenalin inducing and addictive。The Mother highlights just what any parent is willing to do for their children and of course we all know that that means anything!Make sure you have time to dedicate to this book because once you start reading it, you won't want to stop。 。。。more

This is an author who I will automatically want to read when a new book comes out。 I have only just glanced at the synopsis for the first time as I write this review。 Heather, a mum and wife has spent the last 10 years in prison accused of murdering her husband。 The media had a field day with her during the trial and this is something that is becoming more common as people judge a victim by social media。 It makes it very difficult for Heather to be heard, for her to be believed and even the poli This is an author who I will automatically want to read when a new book comes out。 I have only just glanced at the synopsis for the first time as I write this review。 Heather, a mum and wife has spent the last 10 years in prison accused of murdering her husband。 The media had a field day with her during the trial and this is something that is becoming more common as people judge a victim by social media。 It makes it very difficult for Heather to be heard, for her to be believed and even the police found that the evidence neatly fitted their suspicion of her being the culprit。 Neatly fitted, but not all entirely though。 Heather has always proclaimed her innocence and now she is out she wants to prove it。 The author tells of Heather and Liam's busy life and the run-up to his death, the questioning by the police and then of her release。 trying to find anyone who could help her find information about her case is nigh on impossible。 But there is a disgraced journalist who may be able to help。With a limit to her resources and being on probation she has to tread a fine line so she doesn't find herself back in prison。 She has to do this though or she will never see her sons again。This is a tense and very fast-paced story, there are several threads that run throughout and each one is tantalising and just kept me turning the pages。 Even though Heather is consistent in her being innocent it seems that she has a mountain to battle her way up。 As she starts asking questions though blocks and barricades are placed in her way。 These are not something to be taken lightly and the ever-present threat of danger is something that is consistently there throughout the story。 There are various theories that are banded about in the story and each one is plausible。 Red herrings, well there are a few of those and again they help to keep up the intrigue and suspense。 This is a fabulous story and one that has many twists and runs off on unexpected turns, but at no time is it confusing。 It is a story that once you begin you will not want to put down, well I didn't。 I needed to know how it would end, who was responsible and what the final cost would be。 Ideal for fans of crime thrillers that have family and truth at its centre。 I adored this book a lot and it is one I would definitely recommend。 。。。more

BUT - the reasoning behind what happened …… I could not get my head around it! It just didn’t make sense to me。 It let the whole book down for me! I read and re-read a couple of pages and even passed it to my partner and got him to read it and tell me if I’m being daft or does this not make any sense。 The poor man, with zero context of the rest of the book - of course it made no sense, but he did agree that it didn’t add up。 So that is why the 3。5 stars - it should have been a 4 but that explanation for such a big Why? - it was a no from me。 However, it was excellently written, great characters, great intrigue, very creepy and scary, very good! 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book。Heather is married to an MP called Liam and they have two young children together。 Liam comes from a wealthy family, who cut all ties with Heather when she is convicted for Liams murder。 Heather swears she didn’t do it, but the evidence is overwhelming, and it’s clear she’s the culprit。 Apparently。This was another excellent read from this author。 He never fails to have the shock factor within the pages。 The characters were al Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book。Heather is married to an MP called Liam and they have two young children together。 Liam comes from a wealthy family, who cut all ties with Heather when she is convicted for Liams murder。 Heather swears she didn’t do it, but the evidence is overwhelming, and it’s clear she’s the culprit。 Apparently。This was another excellent read from this author。 He never fails to have the shock factor within the pages。 The characters were all well written and came across as relatable。 Heather was extremely well written, and had the right elements of vulnerability and strength。 There were twists and turns throughout the whole story, with explosive elements that shocked。 An excellent read as usual。 。。。more

I have read all of T。M Logan's books and usually I really love them。 This one just didn't hit the same for me。 I still enjoyed the reading experience, but it was the gripping page turner that T。M Logan's other books were for me。I found the pacing of the book to be really strange - it started with a bang, and immediately I was hooked, but then everything just slowly lost momentum the more it went on。 Rather than the tension building, it just fizzled out。 I also found the plot to be very repetitiv I have read all of T。M Logan's books and usually I really love them。 This one just didn't hit the same for me。 I still enjoyed the reading experience, but it was the gripping page turner that T。M Logan's other books were for me。I found the pacing of the book to be really strange - it started with a bang, and immediately I was hooked, but then everything just slowly lost momentum the more it went on。 Rather than the tension building, it just fizzled out。 I also found the plot to be very repetitive too - there wasn't much to it。 It wasn't as clever as Logan's previous books。 I know I shouldn't always compare books to others - but when Logan's books usually WOW me, I just feel really let down by this。I look forward to T。M Logan's next book and I hope that it is a return to form。 。。。more

Heather watches her children at a funeral, whilst she is hiding in the shadows。 Ten years ago she was imprisoned for the murder of her husband, something she denies and can't remember。 She woke up feeling odd with a glass of whisky and tablets by the bed, something she wouldn’t do because of the children and then found him downstairs with a stab wound in his chest。 She is tried and found guilty of murder。 Ten years later Heather is determined to clear her name and reclaim her life with her boys Heather watches her children at a funeral, whilst she is hiding in the shadows。 Ten years ago she was imprisoned for the murder of her husband, something she denies and can't remember。 She woke up feeling odd with a glass of whisky and tablets by the bed, something she wouldn’t do because of the children and then found him downstairs with a stab wound in his chest。 She is tried and found guilty of murder。 Ten years later Heather is determined to clear her name and reclaim her life with her boys and find out what really happened that fateful night。Woah! A book that grabs you early on, builds the tension and then holds on。 A tale of steely determination and the tenacity of someone wanting to put right something so wrong and yet finding out about much of her husband's life she never knew when he was alive。 I couldn't help but admire Heather。 She really had very little to lose by taking this path。 I've read T。 M Logan books before and thoroughly enjoyed them, this one is mind blowing。 A twist I didn’t see coming, one heck of a plot line。 Wow, wow wow! 。。。more

A compelling and highly addictive read!TM Logan can do no wrong! I just love his entire catalogue of novels。 This one in particular had me utterly glued to the pages。 Not just because it’s set in my home town and features pretty much all of the places I drive/work/live but also because of the way it unfolds。I love a story told from back to front and twisted around again - and TM Logan is brilliant at it! The Mother is such a thrilling read, well scripted and with a believable cast and well illustrated setting。 I don’t think anyone will be able to hold back from being totally absorbed in this story。As ever, TM Logan holds a lot of content back throughout the story。 Partially to keep you guessing but also to drop some major ‘clangers’ in your lap。 I particularly enjoyed the moment where Heather goes full ‘Shawshank’ and had to go to prison to become a criminal。 So good!Absolutely brilliant and I’m so pleased I was able to read it as soon as I did。 As ever, thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more
